Aleap, together with our partners Inven2 and the UiO Growth House, recently completed the first-ever Aleap boot camp for health research projects and early-stage startups. The boot camp was run over a 3-month period during the spring, where participants attended 5 in-person workshop sessions. The ultimate objective is to see more health research commercialized from research and academic environments.

The boot camp is designed to help early-stage entrepreneurs refine their understanding of their customers, unmet market need, and validate their product-market fit. During the boot camp, participants also get exposure to critical themes regarding health innovation that include intellectual property, regulatory strategy, and quality management. There are also opportunities to learn from experienced health entrepreneurs and interact with industry experts on funding and organizational development.

The program culminated in a pitching competition where the winner received a voucher from Inven2, which they can use on services to take their innovation to the next level.

It was a tough decision for the panel of 7 industry judges to select a winner. Ilangko Balasingham did a great job in describing how Salveo Solutions’ pill camera can revolutionize colon cancer detection. However, it was Truls Lone together with Maja Andreassen at VennDi who took home the prize for their solution that helps children report chronic pain.

This spring boot camp was a pilot for a larger boot camp that will take place after summer. Aleap expects to attract more than 20 projects and companies to participate in the program from early October 2023. Interested participants can contact Aleap for more information (info@aleap.no).
